To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Project Engineer to provide engineering services for the Rolling Stock Heavy Overhaul Program (RSHOP) including development of overhaul scopes, issues management and process improvement initiatives.
What the role entailsThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to ensure the highest level of quality and safety in the delivery of the project to achieve the required outcomes for Yarra Trams and PTV.
Reporting to Engineering Manager, Major Projects the role involves: • Providing or facilitating the development of scopes, designs, drawings, technical documentation, testing procedures for projects;• Optimising processes and turnaround time to improve tram availability for service;• Writing work packages and ensure proper work instructions are in place;• Analysing the suitability of systems, processes and equipment and initiating and managing change using continuous improvement methodologies, as required;• Assessing risks to the project and putting mitigations in place;• Cost modelling and optioneering to support decision making.
What you will need for this roleTo be successful in this role, you will have:• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Mechanical / Electrical Engineering discipline and/or associated experience in a Rolling Stock environment; • Eligibility for membership or a member of Engineers Australia; • Chartered Professional Engineering (CPEng) status would be highly regarded;• Knowledge and proven experience in systems engineering and systems thinking• Proven experience in delivering a package of work using internal and external resources;• Understanding and experience in design optimisation and Design for Six Sigma (or lean manufacturing) methodologies; • Exceptional ability to assess and design safe and cost-effective engineering solutions to complex technical problems; • Competence in the use of PC’s, Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management Systems;• Must hold current Victorian Driver’s license.
