To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to manage the quality and reliability of parts from our suppliers.

What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure the supply of defect free parts and services from suppliers that may have potential to impact the delivery performance of Yarra Trams.

Reporting to Supplier Quality & Performance Manager, the role involves:
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders (e.g engineering, projects, maintenance) to resolve quality issues and communicating issues to suppliers;
• Following up with suppliers on issues / action items using issues and countermeasure tracking sheets;
• Coordinating with logistics team to quarantine process as required.
• Implementing containment action and permanent resolution of issues;
• Creating quarterly supplier audit plans for all critical parts;
• Conducting inspection of incoming goods as required from time to time;
• Preparing periodic reports on delivery performance from suppliers.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A Diploma or Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, including 5-6 years of Quality Assurance experience;
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge in implementation / working in a Quality Management Systems – ISO55001 / ISO 9001;
• Demonstrable experience in planning and execution of supplier audits for product and process to ensure the quality compliance and detection of defects;
• Sound understanding and experience in Supplier quality process e.g. PPAP, FAI, ITPs, NCRs, CARs, PARs;
• Experience in developing VMCs (Visual Management centre) to report on progress and KPIs;
• Experience in compiling supplier performance data and reporting on supplier performance to management;
• Ability to read technical drawings, Process Flow diagrams, ITPs and specifications sheets;
• Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis methodology to identify and eliminate the cause;
• Ability to communicate strategies and progress to senior organisational leaders;
• Strong computer skills (MS Office; MRP Software -Maximo, business objects.).
