To deliver on these challenges, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Local Industry Development Advisor to ensure the procurement of goods and services are aligned to our commitments on local content.

What the role entails

This is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to assist in safeguarding Yarra Trams’ interests with regard to local content, including creating reports, championing risk management and advising across the business on procurement activities. Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the role involves:

  • Providing advice to project and contract managers on local content issues arising under contractual arrangements and assist in resolution of those issues;
  • Working will suppliers and across the business to identify and support implementation of local content initiatives.
  • Advising functional managers regarding commercial management and negotiations;
  • Managing the local content evaluation components of tendering processes.
  • Assisting the relevant contract managers with transition and implementation of contracts in line with Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) commitments and contractual requirements;
  • Monitoring contracts for compliance to commitments;
  • Preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Recommending appropriate improvements to contract administration systems to align with local content commitments
  • Organising and running industry engagement events;
  • Coordinating risk management activities for the Procurement Function;
  • Managing key relationships with tender and reporting tools (Avetta and TenderLink) and acting as custodian of those reporting tools.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a field where analytical skills are demonstrated;
  • Demonstrable experience in procurement management and processes;
  • Experience or knowledge of managing and/or reporting on Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) local content requirements;
  • Sound written communication skills and the ability to deal efficiently with all documentation required (including State policies, RFQs and contractual documentation);
  • Strong data analysis skills;
  • Proficiency in the use of various software applications including MS Office package; ARM, Maximo, Business Objects, Power BI and experience using reporting software (Avetta) of advantage.
