As the operator of Yarra Trams, we bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we deliver safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.
To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Safety and Risk Manager to lead and continuously improve the system safety and risk management aspects of the Yarra Trams Safety Management System and operations.
What the role entailsThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Safety Manager to develop a generative and risk aware safety culture throughout Yarra Trams
Reporting to the Director, Safety and Security, the role involves: • Implementation of an Organisational Risk Management methodology and Safety Management System;• Supporting departmental Managers in the awareness, management and mitigation of organisational risks;• Development, implementation and maintenance of a risk aware culture in Yarra Trams; • Monitoring the integration of risk reporting with investigation and audit activity to ensure an accurate and live risk register to support business decision making and provide improved organisational assurance;• Actively implementing and supporting the Yarra Trams Safety Management System;• Working with managers across Yarra Trams to achieve positive system design outcomes.
What you will need for this roleTo be successful in this role, you will have:• Tertiary qualifications in a Risk, Safety or Engineering discipline or closely related subject and extensive proven experience, relevant across at least two of these disciplines;• Proven knowledge and extensive experience of implementation and operating in an integrated SMS and environment;• Proven experience in risk engineering and conducting risk assessments, audits and task observations within technical projects and/or construction environments;• Extensive experience in managing complex safety programs and leading organisational change;• Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining compliance with legislation, standards or a similar discipline;• Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;• A high level of competence in Microsoft software: Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;• Experience with proprietary Safety Management Software an advantage.
