As the operator of Yarra Trams, we bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we deliver safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.
To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Technical Writer to write, edit, organise and manage updates of a wide range of documentation within Infrastructure covering technical processes, procedures, work instructions task cards and associated SWMS.
What the role entailsThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Technical Writer to ensure documentation exists for all processes and activities within Infrastructure are in line with Yarra Trams’ accreditation as a Rail Safety Operator and meet Yarra Trams SMS requirements.Reporting to the Compliance Coordinator, the role involves: • Writing work instructions, task cards, checklists, etc;• Analysing existing practices to modify, develop and write relevant instructions;• Working alongside subject matter experts to capture existing processes for documentation;• Explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner;• Working with subject matter experts to ensure accurate process description/steps;• Gathering, developing and disseminating technical information amongst related parties;• Maintaining minimal level of instruction avoiding verbose documentation.
What you will need for this roleTo be successful in this role, you will have:• Proven experience in technical writing of processes and systems;• 3 plus years in relevant heavy or complex industries; • Knowledge and experience in integrating quality, safety, risk and environment into technical documents;• Demonstrable ability to relay complex processes into easy to follow documents;• Ability to use a range of medium to relay and increase a user’s understanding including photographs, diagrams, charts etc;• A high level of attention to detail;• Strong written and verbal communications skills;• Demonstrable investigative and research skills and well developed conceptual and analytical skills;• Strong relationship management skills;• A high level of proficiency in MS Office.
