As the operator of Yarra Trams, we bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we deliver safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.
To support this, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Rail Safety Manager to support the Director of Safety & Security in implementing the effective transition to Rail Safety National Law (RSNL).
What the role entailsThis is a great opportunity for an experienced Manager to lead and manage the development and implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) enhancements to comply with Rail Safety National Law 2012 and Regulations.
Reporting to the Director, Safety & Security, the role specifically involves: • Managing project to deliver outcomes in line with milestones and timeframes agreed with the Director Safety and Security;• Developing and implementing a change management process for compliance with the RSNL • Conducting impact analyses, assessing change readiness and identifying key stakeholders; • Undertaking a change risk assessment in accordance with the Yarra Trams Enterprise Risk Management procedure;• Identifying and updating existing SMS systems and procedures, or developing new requirements, that are necessary to ensure compliance and their effective implementation;• Establishing monitoring and reviewing arrangements to measure the effectiveness and performance of the SMS improvements;• Actively build and maintain effective cross organisational and external working relationships.• Support and engage with senior leaders and managers on implementation deliverables.
What you will need for this roleTo be successful in this opportunity, you will have: • Tertiary qualifications in a Health, Safety or Engineering and extensive proven industry experience.• Proven knowledge and extensive experience of operating in an SMS environment;• Experience in managing integrated safety programs; • Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining compliance with legislation, standards or a similar discipline;• Proven advocacy and promotional skills pertaining to systems and process development within a large and complex organisation;• Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills;• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft software: Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;• A Cert IV Training & Assessment will be well regarded.
