To support this, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Principal Advisor, Construction to ensure Metro Tunnel Project Tram Works are carried out in accordance with the terms and conditions of Yarra Trams’ accreditation and the Returned Tram Assets meet Yarra Trams’ obligations under the Rail Safety Act.

What the role entails
The Principal Advisor, Construction position is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee the development, planning and delivery of the Metro Tunnel tram works.

Reporting to the Principal Program Manager, Melbourne Metro Tram Works, the role involves:
• Liaising with Yarra Trams’ subject matter experts, third-party designers and construction contractors to develop Metro Tunnel tram-related designs to the satisfaction of Yarra Trams;
• Managing and coordinating construction works with Construction Contractors and in-house resources;
• Managing the design and construction tender process, evaluating and recommending successful tenders for commercial and financial approvals for Yarra Trams self-performed works;
• Reviewing and monitoring contract performance and managing close out and variation approvals;
• Providing advice on the implementation of risk controls and mitigation strategies;
• Performing audits in accordance with the Yarra Trams audit program.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering discipline;
• Construction experience in large civil and/or transport projects;
• Relevant experience evaluating and minimising construction and operational risks SFAIRP;
• Proven experience in the review and development of civil and/or transport design packages;
• Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining compliance with legislation, standards or a similar discipline;
• Stakeholder engagement skills to build productive relationships and facilitate negotiation of positive solutions to challenging issues;
• Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Software: Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
• Experience using the Active Risk Management (ARM) platform desirable.
