Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In September last year, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. In the next six years we will continue to bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams requires the services of an experienced Commercial Advisor to support the management of our contract with Public Transport Victoria for the Rolling Stock Additional Works (RSAW).

What the role entails
This position is a great opportunity for an experienced Commercial Advisor to assist in the safeguard of Yarra Trams’ commercial interest and RSAW budget.

Reporting to the Principal Program Manager, Major Projects, the role involves:
• Managing the RSAW commercial procurement including administration of Purchase Orders, Invoices, Changes, variations and delay claims;
• Day to day interface to the RSAW Contractor for all contractual matters;
• Assessing the financial, legal and operational impacts of events arising under the RSAW Contract, providing accurate and timely advice to form the basis for the Additional Works Principal Project Manager in making key business decisions;
• Support accountable managers in the contractual administrative requirements and provide appropriate guidance and advice to management on any issues that may arise;
• Ensuring compliance with AS4292, ISO9002 and ISO14001 in areas of responsibility;
• Preparing monthly reports and attending monthly meetings reporting on status;
• Monitoring of RSAW Contracts to ensure delivery is in line within contract commitments and financial expectations.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or proven commercial experience;
• Over 5 years’ experience in commercial procurement and contract negotiations;
• Strong financial skills and demonstrable knowledge of commercial management of service contracts;
• Demonstrable experience in all aspects of contract management;
• Demonstrable analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
• Strong verbal and written communications (including preparation of formal contract letters and informal presentations, written communications and reports);
• Strong negotiating skills to deal across multiple industries;
• Sound understanding of risk management principles;
• Experience in rail/transport contracts and/or experience in construction contracts of advantage.
