Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In November 2017, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. This is an exciting time for the team at Yarra Trams as we begin delivery of our new franchise term.

In the next six years we will continue to bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Project Manager, Infrastructure Projects to support Project delivery requirements, deliver contractual commitments with PTV and facilitate other projects impacting on the Melbourne Tram Network.

What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager, Infrastructure Projects to manage multidisciplinary infrastructure projects of small to medium scale, delivering Major Capital Improvement and Enhanced Renewal projects associated with track, power, overhead and facilities service delivery.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Infrastructure Projects, the role involves:
• Proven project management skills in delivery of complex technical projects to ensure delivery safely, on time, high quality and within budget
• Innovative and entrepreneurial skills to review processes to introduce improvements and cost savings.
• Strong financial and budget management skills.
• Strong report writing skills
• Ability to deal with discrimination, harassment and workplace bullying issues.
• Confidence and flexibility to accept embrace and initiate change and work under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment with the ability to inspire support and empower others to achieve project outcomes.
• Excellent communication and persuasive skills to deal effectively internally and externally at project levels
• Competent in the use of PC’s and various software applications
• Must be available on call 24/7 and undertake works out of hours and weekend as dictated by projects
• Ability to create, manage and deliver projects in accordance with a project management plan (Microsoft Access or similar IT system)

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
• Appropriate Degree in Engineering with admittance to Institute of Engineers Australia.
• Proven experience with a multi-functional organisation in the engineering or transport environment.
• Understanding of the Project Lifecycle
• Knowledge of contracts and contracting arrangements within the private and public sector.
• Experience in tender bid evaluation and selection processes.
• Significant knowledge and understanding of OHS&E legislative requirements and individual duty of care.
• Understanding of discrimination, harassment and workplace bullying issues.
• Understanding of the principles of business development and the interaction between contracts, operations and commercial outcomes.
• Awareness and commitment to quality and risk management concepts.
• Understands own personal style and demonstrates a history of setting and monitoring goals for project delivery.
• Ability to understand Contractual Franchise Commitments in relation to delivery of works
