Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In November 2017, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. This is an exciting time for the team at Yarra Trams as we begin delivery of our new franchise term.

In the next six years we will continue to bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Advisor, Safety – Infrastructure Projects to improve safety performance.

What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Safety Advisor– Infrastructure Projects to drive consistency and quality of execution in the conduct of risk assessments, audits and verification processes, investigations and corrective actions to ensure continual improvement of the Infrastructure Projects Department’s safety performance to minimise operational risk and enhance operational performance.

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure Projects, the role involves:
• Providing advice in the conduct of risk assessments, corrective actions, audits and investigations.
• Managing difficult and complex tasks within tight time frames
• Demonstrating proven advocacy and promotional skills pertaining to systems and process development within a large and complex organisation
• Possessing well developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrating excellent time management and task prioritisation capabilities, with an ability to meet deadlines and manage pressure
• Possessing a commitment to achieving continuous improvement in the workplace
• Possessing excellent Communication skills
• Maintaining the strictest confidentiality and integrity at all times
• Possessing highly skilled Microsoft software experience: Project, Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
• Minimum diploma level qualifications in a Health, Safety or Environment and extensive proven experience, relevant at least across two of these disciplines.
• Proven experience within a construction or maintenance environment
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, audits and task observations.
• Extensive experience in managing and leading safety investigations.
• Ability to manage difficult and complex tasks within tight timeframes.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining compliance with legislation, standards or a similar discipline.
• Extensive demonstrated experience in the application and understanding of relevant Occupational Health and Safety and Rail Safety Legislation.
• Possess a sound understanding of relevant Operational Rules and Procedures, Codes of Practice, Policies and Practices.
