Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In November 2017, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. This is an exciting time for the team at Yarra Trams as we begin delivery of our new franchise term.

In the next six years we will continue to bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Team Manager, Facilities Projects to scope, plan and execute all aspects of projects within the Facilities team.

What the role entails
The Facilities team is accountable for delivering safe and functional working environments that enable our people to deliver business objectives. Our team achieve this through safe and effective management of contractors who execute our maintenance activities, and by coordinating and executing a detailed works program of minor improvements projects. Our asset classes include tram depots and substation buildings, bridges and subways, tram stops and shelter infrastructure, network facilities for staff, rolling stock plant and equipment and the motor vehicle fleet.

The Team Manager, Facilities Projects position is a great opportunity for an experienced improvement or project professional to manage the pipeline of Facilities work requests and minor projects. The ideal candidate works well within a team, has strong communication skills and can adapt to the wide variety of work that our asset classes generate.

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities the role involves:
• Utilising the Project Prioritisation Process (PPP) to identify, scope and execute all project works for the Facilities team;
• Championing the PPP for the business and ensuring all Facilities projects are channelled through the correct pathway;
• Scheduling work in line with business and franchise requirements;
• Ensuring efficient programming of project delivery for all minor projects within the works program;
• Managing the work flow of the Facilities Service Desk team;
• Owning and managing ‘the plan’ for Facilities – a consolidated schedule of all project works for the team;
• Carry out effective resource scheduling and planning to ensure optimum use of day labour and contract resources to meet the current and future target programs and costs;
• Facilitating the development of improvement initiatives that deliver value from Facilities assets;
• Communicating and reporting on project deliverables and Facilities Service Desk performance;
• Continuously reviewing the way we work to simply our processes and improve service levels for our stakeholders.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
• Previous leadership and minor project management experience;
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders;
• High level of organisational skills;
• Strong written and verbal skills;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
• Experience triaging, scoping and planning work;
• Experience using Maximo;
• Experience developing and implementing new systems and processes;
• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodology desirable but not essential.
