Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. In September last year, the Victorian Government has awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. In the next six years we will continue to bring our local and international expertise to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams requires an experienced Technical Officer to provide specialist technical support for a variety of operational control systems, with a focus on radio Systems.

What the role entails
Reporting to the Team Manager, Operational and Control Systems, this role will ensure the successful operation of radio systems to maintain security and operational monitoring of Yarra Trams sites. The role involves:
• Undertaking timely reactive and preventative maintenance tasks to maintain radio networks, radio sites and field equipment to required standards;
• Undertake maintenance of various Operation Control Systems such as Vehicle Location Systems, CCTV Systems, Intercom/PA and passenger Information Systems;
• Undertaking and maintaining currency of Yarra Trams and industry certifications;
• Designing, documenting, implementing and maintaining enterprise radio systems;
• Providing support to, consulting with and supervising third parties to ensure system effectiveness, including on sites for which Yarra Trams has responsibility;
• Identifying and reporting radio systems risks and threats to both Operational Control Systems (OCS) team and facilities maintenance teams;
• Undertaking equipment and system renewals and commissioning;
• Providing technical support to projects and works pertaining to radio systems;
• Participating in a 24/7 on call roster.

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Advanced Diploma of Electronics and/or significant proven experience, relevant to this discipline;
• A high level of knowledge and experience in installing, maintaining and testing radio systems, including proven experience in asset management contexts; Knowledge and experience in administration of Enterprise Communications Systems;
• Proven knowledge of and experience in incident and problem management in radio and/or operational control systems;
• Ability to read electronic Circuits, System Schematics and repair electronic equipment to Board Level;
• A high level of knowledge and experience in computer networking, including proven ability to undertake incident and problem management;
• Knowledge and Experience using Windows and Server OS Environments;
• Proven technical skills in working with operational control systems;
• A strong ability to engage with customers to resolve issues and increase customer satisfaction;
• Demonstrable negotiation and dispute resolution skills;
• Demonstrable investigative and research skills;
• A Victorian Driver’s Licence.
