Keolis Downer is the proud operator of Yarra Trams, the oldest and largest light rail network in the world. Since 2009, Keolis Downer has significantly invested in Melbourne’s tram network and community. In September last year, the Victorian Government awarded Keolis Downer the contract to run Yarra Trams until at least 2024. This is an exciting time for the team at Yarra Trams as we begin delivery of our new franchise term.

In the next six years we will continue to bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we continue to deliver even better, safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.

To assist us in delivering these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced tradespersons to join our mobile Fleet Presentation Crew in ensuring Yarra Trams meets its Passenger Experience Regime obligations and passengers’ expectation of tram cleanliness and comfort.

These roles will be based at Southbank Depot but will require travel across the entire tram network. Start date will be early 2019.

What the role entails

These positions are a great opportunity for experienced tradespersons to ensure the highest standard of presentation of our fleet of trams. Reporting to the Team Manager, Fleet Presentation, the roles will involve:

• Permanent night shifts, Monday to Friday, covering the hours from 6pm (18:00 hrs) to 7am (07:00 hrs);
• Performing maintenance and presentation tasks;
• Rectifying tram interior damage such as graffiti, interior paint and panel damage and other hazards that may affect passenger safety;
• Visiting each depot, as required, in a timely manner to ensure the fleet presentation standard always meets our customers’ expectations;
• Reporting back into Maximo work done and trams assisted so that the monthly reporting can be quickly and accurately produced.
• Successfully completing training as required, which may be conducted at any of the Yarra Trams work locations, during day or night shift.

What you will need for this role

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Completed an apprenticeship as a panel beater, painter or other acceptable/equivalent trade, work experience;
• Experience in providing technical advice (Knowledge sharing) to other tradespersons;
• Experience overseeing the work of junior Staff (including apprentices);
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
• An awareness and understanding of the OH&S and environmental risks that pertain to this role;
• Ability to work permanent night shift work, including weekends and public holidays if required;
• Medically fit to perform tasks required as part of this role
• A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
